Background
Billy Nelson always knew he wanted to be in the beauty industry, though it took a little exploring to find his calling. After checking out cosmetology, massage therapy and nail programs, he discovered the Elaine Starling Institute (ESI) in 2011. He enrolled in their full-time program that fall and became a licensed aesthetician within ten months.
Billy began his career at Massage Envy, where he gained hands-on experience in aesthetics. While he enjoyed helping clients, he realized that the everyday basic facial wasn’t where his true passion lay. With a background in management, Billy set his sights on running a medical aesthetics practice — a goal he achieved when he joined Casey Powell, PA in April 2021.
Now, he’s thriving in a role that blends his love of aesthetics, patient care and leadership. “It feels good to work a job I absolutely love,” Billy says. “I have the best clients and the most amazing boss ever!”
Billy’s Top Skincare Tips
When it comes to skincare advice, Billy’s first recommendation never changes: wear SPF daily. “Not to sound like a broken record, but SPF daily is one of the best tips I can give,” he says. Beyond that, he emphasizes the importance of cleansing daily, using antioxidant-rich products, staying hydrated and managing stress — all key to achieving happy, healthy skin.
Favorite Procedures: Botox tops Billy’s list. “It can take years off in a matter of days,” he says. His second favorite is CO₂ laser treatments. While the recovery period involves a few days of downtime, the payoff is undeniable — brighter skin, smoother texture, smaller pores and fewer fine lines.
Go-To Product: Billy swears by ZO Skin Health Exfoliating Polish, a physical exfoliator made with fine magnesium oxide crystals. “It sloughs off dead skin cells, removes buildup, and leaves the skin incredibly soft while improving product penetration,” he explains.

Life Outside the Office
When he’s not in the treatment room, Billy loves spending time outdoors and relaxing with family and friends. You’ll often find him on Lake Allatoona, enjoying time on the boat or at home working on yard projects, gardening or caring for his chickens.
A self-described homebody, Billy enjoys cozy nights in — watching movies, playing darts or pool and soaking up the simple joys of home life. With fall in full swing, he looks forward to one of his favorite seasonal traditions: afternoon fires.
